Kiln Field, Shootin Lane, Draw em all, Winter Draw Planting Instructions

*Planting dates should be based on the region.

1. Select a food plot location ideally with 4 – 5 or more hours of sunlight per day.

2. Kill weeds and grasses with Roundup or a similar herbicide. Wait 7-10 days for the chemical to completely kill weeds.

3. Soil Test – Lime and fertilize per soil test. If no soil test, fertilize 19-19-19 at 300 pounds per acre and 2,000 pounds of lime per acre. Ideal soil PH 6.5 - 6.8. For first year of planting, it is a good idea to spray a liquid lime after planting. Lime takes 4-6 months to neutralize the soil PH.

4. Lightly disc or till the soil 3-4 inches deep ideally.

5. Cultipack the soil with a quality cultipacker such as Packer Maxx.

6. Broadcast seed and Cultipack again to ensure seed to soil contact.

 

Clover Sanctuary Planting Instructions
Fall Planting with nurse crop such as Clover Sanctuary or Oats is the preferred method. Spring Planting is also very effective.

3. Soil Test – Lime and fertilize per soil test. If no soil test, fertilize 0-0-46 at 300 pounds per acre and 2,000 pounds of lime per acre. Ideal soil PH 6.5 - 6.8. For first year of planting, it is a good idea to spray a liquid lime after planting. Lime takes 4-6 months to neutralize soil PH.
